If you have childr
en, they are most likely going through their own powerful emotions
after news of your divorce. They might think that they caused your divorce, or wonder
what it means for the family. They could feel confused or worried about what their
future holds.
Children have the opportunity to explore their feelings about their parents’ divorce.
We discuss healthy ways to express their emotions, such as sharing them with a trusted
adult, or through writing or drawing. Each night includes group discussions, games,
activities and snack time.
We emphasize that divorce is never a child’s fault. We
encourage the children to free themselves of worries and concerns that are adult
responsibilities. We talk about how much God loves the children, and how He is always
there for them.
